Statement on the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia

Monday, May 26, 2025 – Recent reports indicate that Russia has continued its attacks on Ukrainian cities and towns, resulting in civilian casualties and injuries, while the humanitarian crisis persists.

Since the onset of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, there have been multiple rounds of peace discussions aimed at resolving the conflict; however, no significant progress has been made. It appears that the parties involved in the conflict remain distant from achieving a comprehensive peace agreement. It is time for a complete and unconditional ceasefire and the initiation of peace talks.

I consistently advocate for mediation in the ceasefire and peace negotiations, as it is imperative for Russia and Ukraine to commence discussions aimed at halting hostilities and, more crucially, to bring an end to the war and attain peace.

The citizens of both Ukraine and Russia desire their governments to negotiate a swift conclusion to the war. The people in Ukraine are enduring a reality filled with fear, explosions, and the constant threat of death. This conflict has resulted in displacement, economic difficulties, and the loss of loved ones, fostering an atmosphere of uncertainty and dread regarding the future.

I once again urgently implore both parties involved in the conflict to find common ground for a ceasefire and peace negotiations, and to support my Global Peace 2030 initiative, which envisions lasting peace in Ukraine as an essential resolution to the ongoing conflict.
