Statement on the Ongoing Violence in South Sudan and the Call for Permanent Peace
President KC urgently calls for an end to the ongoing violence and a renewed commitment to permanent peace across South Sudan.
Wednesday, 3 September 2025 – Despite the 2018 peace agreement that brought an end to a devastating civil war, recent attacks—particularly in Upper Nile State near Nasir town—have claimed innocent lives and threaten the fragile progress made toward national reconciliation.
The persistence of armed conflict in various regions underscores the urgent need for inclusive dialogue and sustained mediation. I remain steadfast in offering my support to facilitate peaceful negotiations among all conflicting parties and the Government of South Sudan. My commitment is rooted in the belief that only through unity, understanding, and compromise can lasting peace be achieved.
The people of South Sudan deserve a future defined by stability, development, and hope-not by violence and division. In alignment with the Global Peace 2030 agenda, we must work collectively to silence the guns and build a nation where every citizen can thrive in dignity and security.
Let this be a moment of reflection and resolve. The time for peace is now.
Hum Bahadur Sappan KC, President / Global Peace 2030
