Statement by President KC regarding the violence and displacement of civilians in Nigeria

Tuesday, May 20, 2025 – Reports indicate that over 20,000 individuals have evacuated Marte town due to escalating assaults by Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno state, northeastern Nigeria. Additionally, last week, 23 farmers lost their lives in Kalawa Balge district due to similar attacks by the same group.

Many civilians are now apprehensive that their lives may be disrupted once more if the assaults persist. Over the past 16 years, the insurgency in Nigeria has resulted in the displacement of at least two million people and the deaths of thousands.

I have consistently offered mediation to foster enduring peace in Nigeria. The nation requires peace, unity, and prosperity. To attain sustainable peace with Boko Haram and other factions, the Nigerian government must consider alternatives to military solutions. Let us collaborate to realize the vision of Global Peace 2030.

-Sappan KC, President
