President KC Urges Immediate Peace Dialogue in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Statement:
Wednesday, 20 August 2025 – Recent reports from eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have revealed a deeply troubling escalation in violence. The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) are alleged to have killed at least 52 civilians in the Beni and Lubero regions. Among the victims were women and children, attacked in their homes, with several residences set ablaze. According to Lieutenant Elongo Kyondwa Marc, these atrocities appear to be retaliatory acts following military setbacks suffered by the ADF.

In light of these tragic events, I renew my urgent call for all parties involved in the conflict-including the government and armed groups—to come together for immediate and inclusive peace talks. The path of violence has brought immeasurable suffering and instability. It is clear that sustainable peace cannot be achieved through warfare, where no true victory exists-only loss.

The people of the DRC yearn for peace, security, and development-free from fear and strife. As part of my Global Peace 2030 initiative, I am dedicated to supporting and initiating peace talks in Congo. The time to act is now, for the sake of the Congolese people and the stability of the region.
