Statement by Mr. KC regarding the situation in Libya and the call for permanent peace

Wednesday, 30 July 2025 – The situation in Libya is indeed deteriorating, especially in Tripoli, where renewed clashes between opposing factions have occurred. The overall human rights situation in Libya is extremely poor. Incidents of forced disappearances, kidnappings, murders, and extrajudicial killings remain widespread, leading to significant instability and raising alarms about a potential escalation of violence and a return to full-scale conflict.

In addition to the immediate security issues, Libya is grappling with a deepening humanitarian crisis, worsened by the ongoing conflict and a fragile economy.

Libya must attain peace and stability. The nation has been afflicted by conflict and instability since the 2011 revolution, which has impeded its development and resulted in considerable humanitarian distress. A stable Libya is vital for the region and necessitates a political resolution that addresses the underlying causes of conflict while ensuring the welfare of its citizens. The people of Libya and the entire nation desire peace, stability, security, and effective governance.

I implore all parties to unite in a collective effort to put an end to this horrific violence and conflict through an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire, and to support my Global Peace 2030 initiative, which envisions lasting peace in Libya as a crucial solution to the ongoing conflict.

– KC Hum Bahadur Sappan, President
